Wild animals in cities can make people feel different ways. Some bring humans joy, but others can cause problems like damaging personal belonging. Wildlife experts from cities, nature groups, and hunters help us handle these situations. We asked 36 of these experts across Germany and in the German cities Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Cologne what they think. They said animals like foxes, wild boars, raccoons, martens, and beavers cause the most trouble. Boars and raccoons are especially tricky. But experts also said citizens can help to reduce beaver impacts with wires around trees and teach people about foxes. To fix these problems, the experts thought we should talk to people to take away their fears, plan cities better for animals, control how many animals there are, and make sure rules are followed. Listening to these experts can help us live more peacefully with wildlife in our cities.
